Turning the Corner

I'm going to say it...I think we turned the corner.  After months of snow covering our outdoors everything and everywhere, within one short week...it's gone...almost.  With highs in the 40's for at least a solid week and a hefty amount of rainfall our abundant has been reduced to area's shadowed from the sun.  Just that fast.  Amazing!

I live close to the mighty Minnesota River and that's where all the snow has relocated itself.  This week the river will swell as it does every spring as it swallows all the melting snow.  Look for paintings to be posted that will document this yearly happening.

I leave you with an image painted as a demo in one of my Alla Prima classes.  Our subject for the week was to bring in and paint, you guessed it, Teddy Bears.  No spouses, please!  I thought this an appropriate image as it's whiteness reminds me of the former frigid season of white.  Propped on striking white it glances around the corner to the new season.  The time we here call, Pre-Spring Tease, a time we thaw out and find out what we left out in the yard last November.

Hi Richard,

I always enjoy reading your posts, the paintings as well as the words. Your phrase "pre-spring tease" makes me think of our neighbors here in Iowa who thought giant inflatable lawn ornaments were a great idea at Christmas time. They too, are languishing in the murk of melting winter. I think spring anticipation has us all in it's grips, no matter our state, this year!

Later, Cooper

I like this painting! You should save it and give it to Mitch in the future since it's his FAVORITE teddy, I think he'd really appreciate it :)
