In this class we will derive our inspiration from items found in our kitchens. Subject matter abounds everywhere from the pots and pans in the cupboard to the fruit in the fridge. Every week we will utilize our culinary eye to compose a beautiful still life. The instructor is Atelier trained and weekly will instruct on a different artistic principle to bring to life the beauty in simple objects. No previous experience necessary. Work in either oil paint or watercolor. Ask for a supply list. L3/12.

    Observations in Paint
    Rick Kochenash
How many questions about producing a painting can be answered if you could just watch an artist at work and ask questions during its creation? Salient points and observations on things such as the ground to work on, the angle of the canvas and lighting, the handling of the brush, the first strokes, the speed of execution, etc. would need little explanation if one could observe a work in progress. Remove the stress of production and task of gathering supplies and simply join Rick for an evening of learning by seeing. Each week a new subject will be tackled as Rick will bring a blank canvas to a finished work by the evening’s end. The subjects will vary by week; fruit, flowers, glass, metal, landscape and portrait. Your questions are encouraged during the painting time so that timely relevant information can be obtained in a real time situation. Being a classically trained artist, Rick will discuss topics such as composition, color, balance, equipment, draftsmanship, paint application and manipulation. Forget the pressure to produce, and enjoy a time of learning and note-taking. Ask for a supply list.
